Better Late Than Never, SJGCC Wrap-Up
The Battle @ St. Johns -- June 3
Despite weather being a factor at the awesome St. Johns G&CC club for the fourth straight year the course still yielded some excellent rounds. Chad Smith edged Ken McElfresh by a single shot with a 73 in the Nicklaus flight while Palmer saw Keith Scott win for the second consecuitive week edging Neil Murphy (75) by two strokes. Yours truly came in third. Jeff Morgan (77) was awarded the Hogan title when Tim Burton was unable to remain on-site for a playoff. Norm D'Accardi had the round of the day with a 79 in Sarazen that outdistanced Doug Guy(82) and Meena Ramaswany(83). Kevin Ridener won his first title in Jones and TJ Smith did the same in Snead.
The next Jacksonville Tour event is Fleming Island on the 17th of June. With the next major upcoming at Grand Cypress next month now is the time to solidify those Elford Cup spots.
