Don't get long on your pitch shots.
A common fault for hitting pitch shots that are dubbed is swinging too far back on the backswing. By going too far back, there is a tendency to slow down the forward swing or decelerate through impact. The result is often a short, flubbed shot. Take the club back to about waist high and then accelerate through the ball crisply. The club will get the ball into the air with spin.
