With a finish that only Jean Van de Velde would love, your dearly beloved author prevailed in a one hole playoff today to capture the AAGT Windsor Parke Open.
Sailing along at one under after twelve holes, I managed to card three doubles and a bogey to finish regulation at 78. The last double (on 18) was most disasterous, as it helped erase a three stroke lead and opened the door for Paul Hammerlund to tie me with his birdie.
I was willing to settle for a match of cards to break the tie, but it was off to the 10th hole for a playoff. I grabbed a quick bite and settled down with a birdie on the par 5, to Paul's bogey.
That sealed my first victory on tour since the 2003 National Championship.
Celebratory beers were shared with all.
