Eagle Landing Wrapup

On the third weekend in May 2006 at Eagle Landing in Orange Park, the Jacksonville AAGT held it's sixth event of the season. The weather was very hot and the scores were low. In the Nicklaus Flight, Chad Smith came out and shot the best round of the day with an even par score of 72. This was Chad's 2nd win of the season and was able to hold off to tough competitors Keith Storms and Scott Gladysz who both shot a 74.

Also, another repeat winner for 2006, was Brian Fike in the Jones Flight, who shot his best round ever an 82. Brian won by four shots over Vincent Damle (86).

We also had a third player who had his 2nd win of the 2006 season. Joe Denton in the Sarazen Flight shot a solid round of 86, to come in tied with three time winner Stephan Jones (86). the two headed out for a playoff and Joe prevailed on the first hole with a 10- foot par putt to win his 2nd victory of the season.

We also had three new winners to the tour this season at Eagle Landing: In the Palmer Flight, Keith Scott shot a fantastic round of 74 to win by a solid margin of 3 shots over Windsor Parke Champion Mike Holland (77). In the Hogan Flight, Grant Keppel came in with his best round of this season a solid 78 and held off a tour veteran Kevin Downey (79) to win by one stroke. Finally in our Snead Flight, Ryan Lurie who has been on the cusp of a victory, came out a shot his best round of the season a 91 and won by four shots over Tajudeen Smith (95).

The course was in great shape and thanks to Tim Spangler and his staff at Eagle Landing for have the AAGT at thier course and helping with the event. We look forward to returning to this course in the futire.

The season is almost half over and the next event is at one of the best conditioned golf courses in Northeast Florida, St Johns Golf & Country Club.
